Heating and Cooling Repair

Heating and cooling repair, done by a certified tech

No heat in February, AC dead in July, a system short-cycling all night — EMC diagnoses and repairs heating and cooling equipment, backed by an EPA 608 Universal certification and HVAC repair training. Repair-first: we fix what can be fixed and tell you straight when it can't.

WHY EMC

HEATING AND COOLING REPAIR WITHOUT THE RUNAROUND

When the heat quits or the AC dies, you want one call — not a referral chain. EMC diagnoses the system, fixes what is broken, and covers the electrical side that most repair outfits have to sub out.

Permits pulled where required, work done to Massachusetts code, and a clean site when we leave.

CALL US IF YOU SEE

HEATING AND COOLING REPAIR WARNING SIGNS

  • System short-cycles — turns on and off in quick bursts instead of running a full cycle.
  • Uneven heat between rooms or floors, common in older triple-deckers running on a single zone.
  • Energy bills climbing with no change in how you use the system.
  • Grinding or rattling from an outdoor condenser, or a boiler that will not hold heat — we diagnose the control and electrical side, and tell you straight when the fix is a plumber's pipe job instead.
  • Thermostat acting erratic — wrong readings, unresponsive, or resetting on its own.
  • Repairs every season instead of once in a while — a pattern, not bad luck.

NO RUNAROUND

HOW IT WORKS WITH EMC

  1. 01

    Tell us what it's doing

No heat, no cool, short-cycling, a smell, a noise — a few details before anyone drives out means the right parts are on the truck.

  2. 02

    On-site diagnosis

The tech traces the actual cause — thermostat, wiring, refrigerant, or a failed part — before recommending anything.

  3. 03

    Straight repair-or-replace answer

Repair-first: if it's safe and economical to fix, we fix it. If replacement makes more sense, you get the numbers, not a sales pitch.

  4. 04

    Repair and test

Most repairs happen the same visit. If a part needs ordering, you get a clear timeline, and the system gets tested before we call it done.

ANSWERS

COMMON QUESTIONS

What happens when you arrive?

The tech looks at the actual system, traces the real cause, and explains it in plain words — with a straight repair-or-replace answer and pricing before any work starts.

Repair or replace — will you push a new system?

Repair-first. If a repair is safe and economical we do the repair. If replacement genuinely makes more sense, we say so and explain why in numbers.

What does EPA 608 Universal mean?

It is the federal certification required to handle refrigerants on all equipment types — EMC holds the Universal level, the broadest one.

Do you work on gas lines or gas piping?

No — gas-line and gasfitting work requires a separate license EMC doesn't hold. We handle the electrical, mechanical, and control side of gas-fired equipment — igniters, blowers, control boards, wiring — and point you to a licensed gasfitter when the problem is the gas line itself.

Do you install ductless mini-splits, or just repair them?

Both. Single- and multi-zone installs and service, handled under EPA 608 Universal certification for the refrigerant side.

How fast can you get here for no heat?

Same-week is normal. Same-day may be available depending on the day — call and we'll tell you straight, not just what you want to hear.

Do you offer a maintenance plan?

Ask when you call. It's priced to your actual equipment and building, not a flat number off a brochure — get a real quote for what you actually have.

Will a smart thermostat work with my old furnace or boiler?

Usually, but not always — older systems don't always wire up the way a smart thermostat expects. We check compatibility first and wire it correctly rather than forcing a mismatch.
